Joseph Mahon - Associate

Joe’s career in philanthropy began with an international fundraising firm and has progressed to lead development staffs in religious, healthcare, educational, disabilities and arts organizations. The range of activities have included major capital campaigns, institutional assessments, feasibility studies, board development, grants, special events, development office assessments, and cultivation programs. New buildings, expanded endowments, technology investments, and remodeling development office protocols have had a lasting and meaningful effect because of Joe’s professional guidance.

His first steps in achieving success are:

  • Identifying an organization’s vision for the future and constructing a vibrant case statement
  • Identifying the organization’s internal and external leaders to solicit their opinions and cultivate their involvement
  • Determining the best program to fulfill the vision; this may be a capital campaign, major gifts program, annual appeal, estate planning program and/or grants program
  • Recruiting volunteers who are willing to serve as the organization’s ambassadors to cultivate and solicit donors
  • Working for more than 30 years in the philanthropic industry, Joe’s greatest professional accomplishments include having the unique opportunity to work with industry leaders, passionate volunteers, alumni, congregations, and arts members serving as the guiding and organizational force.
