Over the last 11 years, starting with The Planned Giving Company and Virtual Giving, Joe developed a client base of over 300 charities that included Universities, Independent Schools, National Charities and Healthcare and Social Service charities. He helped them with prospect screening, marketing, outbound telephone solicitation and strategy. In 2011 he helped form a boutique agency that provides highly customized direct marketing programs for planned giving. As an affiliate of Constellation he will focus all his attention to training and coaching charities to take their planned and major giving programs to the next level.
Joe started his career helping to run a direct marketing family business that his father started in 1955 and which they then sold in 2003. In that time he received a great amount of experience running a business and training and managing a sales force all while maintaining a book of his own business totaling over $1,000,000 per year. He believes that relational selling and fundraising are very similar. The skillsets of great fundraisers are the same as great relational sales professionals. They set goals, they continually hone their communication skills, and they ask great questions, are active listeners and always work in the best interest of their clients and donors. That’s his approach and it gets results. Many people make a living making planned giving complicated. Joe makes his by keeping it simple. He gives fundraisers the confidence to have a planned giving conversation with anyone. He helps his clients show their donors how easy making a planned gift can be and the impact their gift will have.
Joe speaks to and coaches fundraisers and board members all over the country. With the trend towards integrating major and planned gift responsibilities, he blends his relational sales training and planned giving approaches to develop well rounded fundraisers who move away from transactional fundraising to developing a connection with donors that leads to valued relationships. Joe is a board member of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia. In his personal life and as a volunteer, Joe is planned giving chair for Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, PA where he helps in soliciting and stewarding planned giving donors.
Joe is a member of Donor Centric Fundraising, LLC, an affiliate of Constellation Advancement.
